The information is intended to bring you information about Nicaragua and Canada. Although the two countries have much in common –economics, land use, geography—this calendar focuses on some of the social and economic differences. Fundraising events in congregations and at Presbytery provides and opportunity for everyone to know more about the participants and the host country of Nicaragua.

Rural poor: 1,678,179.5

1 in 10 Canadians lives in poverty.

Agriculture of Nicaragua:

coffee, bananas, sugarcane, cotton, rice, corn, tobacco, sesame, soya, beans; beef, veal, pork, poultry, dairy products; shrimp, lobsters.

Access to Clean Water:

Many First Nation Communities in Canada do not have safe drinking water.
Outside of Managua, bottled water is advised.
